Instead of playing golf, collecting stamps or going on the occasional fishing trip, I enter competitions.
Over the last few years I've won tickets to world premieres, shopping vouchers, holidays, clothes and numerous smaller prizes.
Oh, and one prize of a whopping £10,000 in cold participate and win money cash!
After spending a bit of time reading about how Mrs Smith from Cornwall won a holiday to Dubai and Mr Jones won a brand new Mini just from entering competitions, my first thought was that I wanted a end of black codes of that.
What started off as entering the odd competition here and there soon become an obsession where I was entering 100s a day.
I got the bug and I would get up at 5am each morning to start entering them before the family woke up.
I started to win quite a bit too.
That couldn't be further from the truth.

My train of thought was that the more I entered, the more chance I had of winning — I was right.

Look for local competitions where there will be a lot fewer entries, enter competitions that require you to participate and win money more than submit details and get into a consistent routine of entering them each day.
Social media is also a hotbed for competitions, especially on Twitter.
To increase your chances here do specific searches for hashtags such as competition, win or comp and follow accounts which regularly hold giveaways.

When I was entering competitions on a large scale it was because I had a lot of spare time.
I worked shifts so I always had a few hours in the morning or evening to myself.
Looking back I have been extremely lucking to win some fantastic prizes but apologise, play poker free and win real money quite those away and it can be a lot of effort for very little reward.
You can also look at it a different way.
And, if you do start to win the odd prize it will be like Christmas all year long.
Yahoo or Gmail offer free email accounts and they are easy to set up.
If you do start to win a few competitions, note down what you won and when.
If you go through a barren period of not winning you can look back at this to keep you motivated.
